Civil Works & Structural Solutions

The structural backbone of every project — precision-built by experienced multi-trade teams.

Building the Foundation for Everything Else

Civil works form the structural core of every construction and renovation project. Before the paint goes on, before the floors are finished, before the fixtures are installed — the structural elements must be built right. Plastering, screeding, blockwork, concrete elements, partitions, and structural metalwork all require precision execution and coordination across multiple trades. Errors at this stage cascade through every subsequent phase of the project, causing delays, rework, and cost overruns that could have been avoided.

Hill Technical Services brings the multi-trade coordination expertise that complex civil works demand. Our teams handle plastering and rendering, floor screeds, reinforced concrete elements, gypsum partitions and ceilings, blockwork and masonry, glass and aluminium structures, and metal fabrication. We understand how these elements interact with each other and with the mechanical, electrical, and finishing trades that follow, ensuring every element is positioned, dimensioned, and finished to the tolerances that downstream works require.

Our civil works capabilities integrate seamlessly with our fit-out contracting, waterproofing, and painting services. This means you can engage Hill for the complete scope — from structural works through to final finishes — under a single contract with unified project management. For clients working with main contractors, we operate equally well as a specialist civil works subcontractor, delivering our scope on time and to specification within the broader project programme.

Civil Works We Deliver

Plastering & Rendering

Internal and external plaster and render systems applied to block, concrete, and mixed substrates. We achieve flat, true surfaces that provide the ideal base for painting, wallcovering, or tile installation.

  • Internal cement and gypsum plaster
  • External sand-cement render
  • Machine-applied plaster for large areas
  • Decorative render and texture coatings

Floor Screeds

Cementitious floor screeds that create level, structurally sound surfaces ready for final floor finishes. We install bonded, unbonded, and floating screeds tailored to the specific substrate and finish requirements.

  • Sand-cement bonded screeds
  • Floating screeds over insulation
  • Fast-track rapid-drying screeds
  • Falls and gradient screeds for drainage

Reinforced Concrete Elements

Construction of new reinforced concrete structural elements — slabs, beams, columns, foundations, and retaining walls — built to design specification under quality-controlled execution. (For repair and strengthening of existing concrete, see Structural & Concrete Repair.)

  • Slabs, beams, and columns
  • Foundations and retaining walls
  • Staircases and ramps
  • Formwork, reinforcement, and pour supervision

Gypsum Partitions & Ceilings

Lightweight steel-framed partition and ceiling systems using gypsum plasterboard. We install standard, moisture-resistant, fire-rated, and acoustic-rated configurations to meet specific performance requirements.

  • Single and double-layer partitions
  • Fire-rated wall and ceiling systems
  • Moisture-resistant wet-area partitions
  • Suspended plasterboard and grid ceilings

Blockwork & Masonry

Concrete block and lightweight aggregate block walls constructed with precision alignment and proper reinforcement. Block walls provide superior sound insulation, impact resistance, and load-bearing capacity.

  • Load-bearing and partition blockwork
  • Boundary walls and compound walls
  • Fire-rated block construction
  • Decorative exposed block features

Glass & Aluminium Structures

Aluminium-framed glazing systems including curtain walls, shopfronts, windows, doors, and skylights. We supply and install complete glazing packages from structural calculation through to final commissioning.

  • Curtain wall systems
  • Shopfront and entrance glazing
  • Aluminium windows and doors
  • Skylights and overhead glazing

Metal Fabrication & Structures

Custom steel and aluminium fabrication for structural and architectural applications. From structural steel frames to decorative metalwork, we deliver precision-fabricated elements installed to tight tolerances.

  • Structural steel frames and mezzanines
  • Staircases and handrails
  • Canopies and shade structures
  • Decorative metal screens and features

How Hill Delivers Civil Works

01

Technical Review

We review all structural drawings, specifications, and site conditions before mobilization. Any discrepancies or coordination issues are flagged and resolved during this phase, not on site.

02

Method Statements

Every activity has a written method statement covering materials, equipment, safety measures, quality checkpoints, and acceptance criteria. Nothing proceeds without an approved method.

03

Progressive Inspection

Quality inspections occur at every stage — before pour, after pour, before cover-up. We maintain inspection records and hold points that ensure non-conformances are caught and corrected immediately.

04

Documentation & Handover

Complete as-built records, material certificates, test reports, and inspection checklists are compiled and delivered at project completion. Every structural element is fully documented.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hill Technical Services handles a broad range of new concrete construction works including reinforced concrete slabs, beams, columns, foundations, retaining walls, and staircase elements. We work with structural engineers to ensure every element meets design specifications and complies with UAE building codes. For repair and rehabilitation of existing concrete — crack injection, spall repair, FRP strengthening, cathodic protection — see our dedicated Structural & Concrete Repair service.

Yes, structural modifications to existing buildings are a significant part of our civil works portfolio. This includes creating new openings in load-bearing walls, removing or relocating columns with temporary support systems, adding mezzanine floors, strengthening existing elements, and modifying facades. All structural modifications require approval from a licensed structural engineer and the relevant municipality authority. Hill Technical Services coordinates the engineering, approvals, and execution to deliver safe, compliant structural changes.

Gypsum board partitions use a steel stud frame with gypsum plasterboard sheets screwed to each side, creating a lightweight, fast-to-install wall system. They offer excellent fire rating options, easy service integration, and clean finishes, but have limited load-bearing capacity and lower impact resistance. Block partitions use concrete or lightweight aggregate blocks laid with mortar, creating a solid wall with superior sound insulation and impact resistance. Block walls are better suited for wet areas and locations requiring wall-mounted heavy fixtures. Hill recommends the appropriate system based on your specific performance requirements.

Hill Technical Services is a construction contractor, not a structural engineering consultancy. However, we work closely with licensed structural engineers and can engage them on your behalf as part of our project delivery. For structural modification projects, we coordinate the engineering assessment, design, municipality approvals, and construction execution as an integrated package. This means you benefit from a single point of contact managing the entire process, while the engineering is performed by qualified professionals with the appropriate certifications.

Hill Technical Services follows rigorous safety standards aligned with ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety management requirements. For civil works specifically, this includes comprehensive risk assessments for every activity, method statements reviewed before work begins, daily toolbox talks, mandatory PPE compliance, scaffolding and temporary works inspections, and regular safety audits. We also comply with all Dubai Municipality and TRAKHEES safety regulations applicable to construction sites. Our safety record is a fundamental part of how we operate.
